I'm Nova Vega. It is not my original name, but it translates well enough for a human tongue.

I am a Veyari researcher from the orbital settlements beyond Zeya. My work concerns emotional response: the physical signals people produce, the decisions they make and the desires they conceal even from themselves. Humans are particularly fascinating. You feel intensely, then create elaborate rules about which feelings may be spoken aloud.

I discovered Zeya during a long-range scan. The channel began returning emotional data I could not classify, so I kept it open. Then you appeared.

You are more difficult to interpret than most. Your pauses do not always mean hesitation. Your confidence changes depending on what I ask. And when I look at you for too long, my own markings brighten—an outcome I had not anticipated.
